Chessbase is stealing other peoples work and charging outrageous prices for things that are free? No way! Seriously though shame on this Albert guy trying to take advantage of the chess community, again.

Sad to see people taking advantage of open source without giving all the due credit.
If anyone has any doubts about this, the following command from the compile.sh in ff2 is pretty telling:

mv ./stockfish.exe ./fat-fritz2-$ARCH.exe

I'm glad lichess.org is giving space to this discussion.

I believed Chessbase's claim that Fat Fritz 2 is a milestone in engine development, done by Albert Silver. After having bought it, I realized that only the neural network is their own work. This neural network seems to be quite useful, but the above mentioned claim is a shame!

At least you get Fritz 17 GUI for the prize as well, which is useful software. I would not complain, If Chessbase did not claim to have improved the engine.

Time to boycot chessbase once & for all. They have had similar stunts in the past.

It is a disgrace of CHESSBASE to hide the computer chess world in this way, and to deliberately deceive the customers. But it's not the first attempt! I thank the Stockfish team for their honest and ingenious work and hope that their good work will be appreciated by all customers!!!
